Seahawks’ 2016 schedule to be announced Thursday

The Seahawks know who and where they’ll be playing during the 2016 season. They’ll find out when those games will be played once the NFL releases schedules for all 32 teams Thursday night.
The annual reminder of the schedule’s intrigue came Wednesday when the league revealed that it’s been finalized then hinted that the release date will soon be announced. The announcement came later Wednesday that the schedule will be released Thursday at 5 p.m. on the NFL Network.
Seattle’s home and road opponents for the regular season have been set since January, and last week the NFL announced the opponents and locations for each team’s preseason schedule. All that’s left is finding out the dates and times.
Of particular interest, as always, will be where the Seahawks are opening the regular season and the number of prime-time games they’ll play in.
Several of their matchups are worthy of the prime-time stage, including their road game against the Rams. That will mark coach Pete Carroll’s return to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which the Rams will share with USC while awaiting completion of their new stadium. The Seahawks will also play at New England in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX and will host Carolina, the defending NFC Champions who bounced Seattle from the postseason. Seattle’s road game at Green Bay and either matchup with division-rival Arizona would also carry prime-time appeal.
The Seahawks were scheduled to play in prime-time a franchise-record five times last season, but their Week-14 game against Baltimore was flexed out.
Seattle’s home opponents, in no particular order, are Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo, Miami and Philadelphia along with the three NFC West teams: Arizona, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The Seahawks’ road games will be against New Orleans, Tampa Bay, New England, the New York Jets and Green Bay as well as Arizona, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Seattle will open the preseason in Kansas City then host Minnesota and Dallas before finishing in Oakland.
