Schedule Notes
• The Seahawks open the season in primetime against Wilson, who was traded to Denver this offseason for five draft picks and three players after 10 years as Seattle’s starting quarterback. Quarterback Drew Lock, a 2019 second-round pick of the Broncos, was part of the deal as well and depending how the rest of the offseason goes, Wilson may not be the only quarterback in this matchup facing his former team.
• Last year was the first year of the 17-game regular season, and Seattle had eight home games and nine road games. That flips this year, with the Hawks hosting nine regular season games at Lumen Field while hitting the road for its other eight contests. As such, two of the Seahawks’ preseason games are on the road while one is at home.
• The Seahawks, as always, play each of their NFC West counterparts twice. Additionally, they play every member of the NFC South and AFC West this season.
• Because the Seahawks finished in fourth place in the NFC West in 2021, they play a number of last-place finishers from a year ago. They place each 2021 NFC last-place finisher – the Giants, Lions and Panthers – as well as the Broncos and Jets.
• Despite facing five teams who finished in last place last season, the Seahawks have the 11th-hardest strength of schedule for 2022 based on 2021 regular season records.
• The Seahawks will take part in the first ever NFL regular season game in Germany in Week 10 when they take on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
• As is typically the case, the Seahawks will travel more miles than any other team in the NFL. That’s especially true this year with their Week 10 game being in Germany. Overall, Seattle will travel 29,466 miles for its nine road contests and return travel. Additionally, the Hawks will change time zones 34 times as a result of their travel.
• The Seahawks are scheduled to have just two primetime games. That’s the fewest primetime games Seattle has had on its initial schedule since 2012, which saw the Hawks scheduled to play two primetime games and an international game, just like this season.
• Starting in Week 5, games can be flexed in and out of primetime on Sundays. For the Seahawks, that means that they could be added to Sunday Night Football any time Week 5 and onward except for Week 10 (in Germany), Week 11 (bye week), Week 15 (Thursday Night Football) and Week 16 (Saturday game on Christmas Eve).
