Kendricks signed with the Seahawks prior to their Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears, not long after his pleaded guilty to insider trading charges, and Seattle was aware going into signing Kendricks that he would likely be suspended at some point this year. He is set to be sentenced in January and could face up to 25 years in prison, though he may face only 30 to 37 months in prison based on federal guidelines, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The 28-year-old Kendricks is a seventh-year NFL veteran. He has 15 combined tackles with two sacks in three games with Seattle this year. He spent the previous six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and joined the Cleveland Browns this offseason, who released him after his insider trading charges.
The loss of Kendricks does the Seahawks no favors at a thin linebacker position, where they’re still waiting to get Pro Bowler K.J. Wright back from injury.
