Russell Wilson Trade: Who Seahawks reportedly get from Denver

After years of speculation, the Seahawks have finally agreed to trade Russell Wilson, per multiple reports that broke late Tuesday morning.

So what kind of haul does it take to pry away Seattle’s franchise quarterback tied to the most successful stretch in team history? This is what the reported trade looks like, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

While we can’t break down what the draft picks will turn into for the Seahawks, we can take a close look at the three players reportedly coming to Seattle from Denver.
QB Drew Lock
It appears the Seahawks aren’t trading their franchise quarterback away without getting a QB back in return – though good luck being the player replacing Russell Wilson on the depth chart.
That seems to be the reality for Lock, a 2019 second-round NFL Draft pick (42nd overall) who has had more downs than ups in his three-year pro career thus far. The 25-year-old University of Missouri product has appeared in 24 games, including 21 starts, and was Denver’s starting QB for 13 games in 2020. It didn’t exactly go well – he completed 254 of 443 passes (57.3%) for 2,933 yards, 16 touchdowns and a league-high 15 interceptions. He did have the longest completed pass of the season, however, at 92 yards.

In 2021, Lock appeared in six games, starting three. He threw 67 for 111 (60.4%) with two TDs and two interceptions.
Injuries have played a role in Lock’s pro career thus far. He missed the start of the 2019 season with a hand injury suffered during the preseason, then missed three games with a shoulder injury in 2020. He also suffered a shoulder injury late last season.
While Lock hasn’t set the league on fire, at 6 foot 4 and 228 pounds, he still fits the bill as a QB. Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy, a former Seahawks scout, had this positive scouting report to share Tuesday after news of the trade was reported:

TE Noah Fant
Fant may be the favorite to make the most impact for Seattle from the reported return for Wilson. He’s big and athletic (6-4, 249 pounds) and has shown to be plenty capable in the passing game.
The 24-year-old tight end was the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Iowa, and he has been a solid contributor in Denver’s offense in the three seasons since.
In 2021, Fant caught 68 of 90 targets for 670 yards and a career-high four touchdowns, playing in 16 of the Broncos’ 17 games. That came on the heels of a strong 2020 campaign where he had 62 catches on 93 targets for 673 yards with three touchdowns in 15 games. As a rookie in 2018, he had 562 receiving yards and three TDs on 40 catches (66 targets).

DL Shelby Harris
The 30-year-old Harris, who checks in at 6-2 and 290 pounds, is coming off a six-sack season with Denver.
Harris has played seven pro seasons since breaking in with the Raiders in 2014, including the last five with Denver as a defensive end. He tied his career-high in sacks last season, matching his total from 2019.
Harris had 49 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, two passes defensed and a forced fumble in 2021. He’s been particularly impressive in the passes defensed department, using his long arms to make 18 combined over the past three seasons, including nine in 2019 alone.
An Illinois State product, Harris was a seventh-round pick of the Raiders in 2014.
