Getting ready for Real Salt Lake

We just arrived in Salt Lake for our game against Real. The flight was delayed by an hour but everything beyond that went smoothly. The team is relaxed but ready. You can sense the anticipation.

Refereeing is part of the game

As a coach -- and especially as coach of the Sounders -- I know that refereeing is part of the game.

Sounders aren’t satisfied with another playoff berth

The Cascadia Cup competition continues this week with Portland. We are very close to a sellout, so buy those remaining tickets and let's make this a sellout.

After busy week, time for rival Portland

It was nice to sleep in our own beds this past week. After all our travel that was an excellent change for us. This week we are at home again before we travel to Portland on Friday.

Overcoming the rigors of long-distance travel

Well, last week was a long trip and then some. Traveling is great when you are on vacation and going to places you enjoy and can stay for a while with no time schedules.

Busy week ahead after incredible game vs. Chivas

It has been awhile and we have traveled a lot and played some good games. Last Saturday was incredible.

Wrapping up a busy two weeks for the Sounders

It has been a couple of weeks and a lot has happened in the Sounders' world. There have been league games, cup games and also the international exhibitions. There have also been roster changes.

Sounders well rested after needed time off

Time to get back to work. It was nice to get a few days off to recharge the batteries and think less about soccer. I do not think I ever do not think about the sport and the team. I think the players enjoyed some time away as well.

Looking forward to Open Cup at Starfire, then a break

Well, last week was not our best week. Very disappointed at losing at home and picking up two road ties was not bad, but we always expect better.

Sounders should be well-rested for Vancouver

The past two weeks have been a blur and very busy. Finishing with four wins in our last five games is very satisfying. But we really wanted that one last Saturday against Real Salt Lake.

After big road win, Sounders have busy week

First and foremost I want to thanks the fans who were in Chicago. What a great turnout on a cold day far from home. The traveling fans that Seattle has are the best. Now we come home to play in front of the best fans in the league.

After week off, Sounders preparing for Chicago

Well, I missed last week after our win over the Colorado Rapids. After the game we had training the next day and then I went with the reserve team to Los Angeles for our game with the Galaxy.

Some good, some bad from Sounders’ first road trip

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? That is a question we sometimes get asked by our friends and family. So I am asking you are fans, do you want the good news or the bad news first?

After tough loss, Sounders must respond on the road

Well, last week was a result we were not happy with. San Jose came into our house and walked away with three points and we are never happy about that.

Season 4 off to a strong start

It is hard to believe that the fourth season of Sounders soccer has begun in Seattle. It seems like just yesterday that we were in our inaugural season.

Sounders are down but definitely not out

Last Saturday was a difficult day for the Seattle Sounders and myself . Our expectations went unfulfilled . We had a poor game and we started OK in the first 10-15 minutes.

The real work begins now for Sounders

The regular season concluded with another win. Our best regular season since we have been an MLS franchise. A lot to be proud of and more work ahead.

Seattle soccer fans should be proud

The last two weeks have had so many highs with the Open Cup and the qualification for the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions league. It has been such a great feeling. But 64,000 for a soccer game last Saturday is unbelievable.

3 straight U.S. Open Cup titles is quite an achievement

What a day, or shall I say evening. The support of our fans was tremendous as always. I have never heard our stadium louder than after our second goal as Alonso put the icing on the cake to seal our victory.

Challenges never end for Sounders FC

The travel continues as we go from Dallas to Monterrey, Mexico. However, travel is a lot easier when coming off of wins. The win in Seattle in our first CCL game was a great start to our group play.

Do or die time for Sounders FC

Last week was a tough one for us. The loss in Panama was disappointing and the travel week seemed like a long time. Houston was a team with their backs against the wall and were highly motivated. On the day they were better than us. When you fail you have a chance to learn and […]

Life on the road

Here I am in Panama writing this for you our great fans. Playing soccer and coaching on the professional level is a great life. Traveling is not always the fun part of this job. On Sunday we arrived at Sea-Tac airport at 4:30 a.m. for a 6 a.m. departure, so far so good. We landed […]
