The Seahawks go into 2022 training camp with a lot of questions, especially on offense after the trade of quarterback Russell Wilson. One of those questions would have been asked regardless of who takes the snaps next season, though.
That would be: Is Dee Eskridge going to be a factor at wide receiver?
Bump and Stacy on Hawks WRs: Reasons for excitement and concern
The Seahawks’ top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft (selected 56th overall in the second round), Eskridge barely made it out of the blocks as a rookie last year. He played 10 games, missing most of the first chunk of the season due to a concussion he suffered in Week 1. He finished the year with 10 receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown, never really establishing himself as a reliable option in the passing game.
Somebody who has long had his eye on Eskridge is Seattle Sports’ Michael Bumpus, a former Seahawks receiver himself who now serves as host on both Bump and Stacy and on Seahawks Radio Network broadcasts. He identified Eskridge as a potential Seahawks target before the 2021 draft, so it goes without saying he has a pretty good idea of what the Western Michigan University product is capable of.
With the battle for the No. 3 receiver spot behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett open on the Seahawks’ offense, could Eskridge be in for a breakout year? Bumpus breaks that down in his latest Seahawks video for the Seattle Sports YouTube channel.
