With center Max Unger out for at least three weeks and possibly longer, the Seahawks have re-signed his former backup.

Seattle brought back Lemuel Jeanpierre on Tuesday and also signed defensive tackle Travian Robertson from the Falcons’ practice squad, additions that help fill the voids left by two key injuries.

To make room on their 53-man roster, the Seahawks waived offensive tackle Andrew McDonald and defensive back Steven Terrell.

Jeanpierre, 27, was a logical choice for Seattle given his familiarity with the system. He made eight starts over three seasons with the Seahawks, three of them coming last year when Unger was injured. Seattle released Jeanpierre in September with an injury settlement. With Stephen Schilling on injured reserve and Unger sidelined due to the ankle injury, Patrick Lewis was the only healthy center on Seattle’s roster.

How foreseeable was Jeanpierre’s re-signing on Tuesday? Coach Pete Carroll was asked about the possibility of it Monday, but would only say that he’s an option.

Robertson, 25, is listed at 6 feet 4 and 305 pounds. He plays nose tackle, a position at which Seattle took a hit when Brandon Mebane was lost for the season with a hamstring injury. A seventh-round pick in 2012 out of South Carolina, Robertson appeared in 12 games over his first two seasons in Atlanta.
