Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung suffered a chest injury serious enough for him to be taken to the hospital.
He was released after being diagnosed with a bruised chest wall, the result of a devastating block from 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald as Okung was trying to make a tackle following San Francisco’s interception of Russell Wilson on the final play of the first half.
Okung did not return to the field in the second half, and coach Pete Carroll said after the game that Okung had already been evaluated and released from the hospital.
Alvin Bailey filled in at left tackle, and Carroll didn’t offer any prognosis for Okung going forward this season.
“We’ll let you know in a couple of days what’s going on with that,” Carroll said.
