Here are the list of winners from the 2016 MTR Western Sports Star of the Year Awards.
Male sports star of the year: Michael Bennett, Seahawks.
Other nominees: Clint Dempsey, Sounders FC; Nelson Cruz, Mariners; Luke Falk, Washington State University; Pete Fewing, Seattle University soccer; Cheng-Tsung Pan, University of Washington golf.

Female sports star of the year: Megan Rapinoe, Seattle Reign FC.
Other nominees: Jewell Lloyd, Seattle Storm; Mary Lou Mulfur, UW golf; Kelsey Plum, UW basketball; Lianna Sybeldon, UW volleyball; Kamilah Williamson, Special Olympics swimmer.
Sports story of the year: UW men’s crew rows to fifth straight national title.
Other nominees: Chambers Bay hosts U.S. Open, Seahawks rally to win NFC Championship, Reign repeat as regular-season champions, UW volleyball, Hisashi Iwakuma throws Mariners’ fifth-ever no-hitter.
Royal Brougham Award (lifetime achievement): Warren Moon, former UW quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Fame member.
Paul Allen Award (given for philanthropic contribution): Ginger Ackerley, wife of former Seattle Supersonics owner Barry Ackerley.
Keith Jackson Award (given to media member for excellence in communicating sports stories of the state): Kevin Calabro, former voice of the Supersonics and 710 ESPN Seattle host.
The Wayne Gittinger Inspirational Youth Award: Katie Collier, center for the UW women’s basketball team.
