Another NFC title game. Another emotionally-charged rant right afterward.
The television cameras weren’t rolling on Doug Baldwin the way they were on Richard Sherman a year ago. The audio recorders were, though, along with a few cell phones. And when Baldwin stormed through the closed doors near Seattle’s locker room, where a group of media members were waiting to enter following the Seahawks’ come-from-behind victory over Green Bay, he aimed his words at anyone who ever doubted that his team could do what it had just done.
“Are you ready for this?” he asked before advising anyone within earshot to write down what he was about to say.
“When we were 3-3, everybody counted us out,” he said. “Ya’ll didn’t believe in us. A whole bunch of people thought we weren’t going to make it, right? When we were 6-4, ‘Oh, that’s OK. They’ve got a winning record but they’re not going to go to the playoffs.’ Remember that? 16-0 at the first half – how many of ya’ll counted us out? How many of ya’ll doubted us?
“It’s indicative of our entire season. Ya’ll don’t want to believe in us, it’s OK. You ain’t got to believe in us because we’re going to believe in ourselves. We ain’t worried about ya’ll. We’re worried about ourselves.
“When it was 16-0 at halftime, guess what we said? ‘Don’t trip.’ You don’t win the game in the first half, you win the game in the second half. And what’d we do? We come out and do what we do. We play Seahawks football. We got an opportunity to do what we love and we’ll see ya’ll in the Super Bowl.”
