Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman played in their Super Bowl loss Sunday, but the elbow injury he suffered in the NFC title game two weeks prior is reportedly more severe than he let on.
Sherman has torn ligaments in his left elbow and may need to undergo Tommy John surgery in the offseason, ESPN’s John Clayton reported after the game.
Sherman, who didn’t miss a play in the Super Bowl or any time in practice leading up to the game, was said to have a sprained elbow resulting from a play in the fourth quarter of Seattle’s win over Green Bay on Jan. 18.
The injury didn’t appear to limit Sherman against New England on Sunday, as he made three tackles and didn’t noticeably favor his left arm.
