Adding depth along their defensive line figures to be among the Seahawks’ offseason priorities given how a number of the players in their rotation from 2014 are either unsigned or coming off injury-shortened seasons. To that end, the team will meet with free-agent defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois, according to reports from ProFootballTalk.com and the NFL Network.
Jean-Francois, 28, was released earlier this week by the Colts, having completed two years of a four-year, $22 million deal he signed with Indianapolis in 2013. Because he was released, Jean-Francois is eligible to get a head start on free agency, which doesn’t officially begin until next month. Both reports stated that he’s also scheduled to visit with Washington and San Francisco.
Jean-Francois was a seventh-round pick by San Francisco in 2009 and started five games over his four seasons with the 49ers. He was a starter the past two seasons in Indianapolis, posting career highs last year in both tackles (28) and sacks (three).
