Contrary to a report, a source said Thursday that the Seahawks were not pursuing La’el Collins, the former LSU offensive tackle who was considered a first-round talent but went undrafted over the weekend due to questions about his connection to a pregnant woman who was murdered last month.
Collins has since signed with Dallas. Before he did, a report from Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel indicated the Seahawks were a possibility for Collins along with Dallas. Kelly’s Tweet read: “In my opinion, & based on the word on the streets, Dallas & Seattle are the front runners for La’el Collins. But we’ll see.”
The Seahawks, however, weren’t going to sign Collins because of their uncertainty with his unresolved legal situation. Collins has not been named as a suspect or a person of interest in the case, but police in Baton Rouge, La. said they wanted to interview him as part of their investigation into the shooting death of a pregnant women with which Collins had a previous relationship.
