We know where the Seahawks need improvement in 2020. We know who’s new to the roster, who’s coming back from injury, and who has the biggest expectations on their shoulders. But which Seahawks players are you personally rooting for the most to be successful next season?
Seahawks draft picks: How will Jordyn Brooks fit in on defense?
That was one of Tom Wassell’s three questions on Thursday’s edition of Tom, Jake and Stacy on 710 ESPN Seattle, and he, Jake Heaps and Curtis Rogers each had an answer all their own, for a different reason than any of the others.
Let’s look at what they had to say.
Who’s the one Seahawks player you’re rooting for the most?
Jake Heaps: “This may not be the guy you would expect but for me it’s Quinton Dunbar, the corner that they traded for from Washington. I think if he performs at the highest level in which he’s capable of and he’s able to maintain and stay healthy, I think that he’s going to be an unbelievable player and a guy that can really change the course of the Seahawks’ defense in the secondary. That’s the guy that I’m really rooting for the most out of anybody on this team just simply because I think his impact can be a big one for this team.”
Curtis Rogers: “(Second-round pick and defensive end) Darrell Taylor because the Seahawks need pass rush in the absolute worst way. Also L.J. Collier too, but I think Darrell Taylor is the one where he just needs to stop this trend the Seahawks have had where, I think it’s four years now, DK Metcalf is the only star-level player they’ve found early on in the draft. I (hope) he can step up and really add to that pass rush. Now, I’m not expecting double-digit sacks, but if he can get five, that would be sufficient enough.”
Tom Wassell: “I’m going to be rooting for (tight end) Will Dissly for obvious reasons. I hope he can come back from injury for A, and B, stay healthy. But Curtis just said it right there – DK Metcalf is the only star-level player that the Seahawks have drafted the last couple years. Well, Will Dissly probably could have been another had he been able to stay healthy. He was putting up numbers and he established a great chemistry with Russell Wilson every single time he took the field. I’m hoping that Dissly can come back and do that.”
