The Seahawks announced another promotion in their front office on Wednesday, naming Maurice “Mo” Kelly the team’s vice president of player engagement.
Kelly’s previous title was senior director of player development. He’s worked in Seattle’s front office since 2005 and served as something of a life coach to players, providing them counsel on things outside of football such as finances, family and their post-NFL careers.
The team’s press release describes his role thusly: “Kelly is responsible for providing club personnel, players and families with programs that foster personal and professional growth while serving as a conduit between players and management.”
Kelly is a former NFL safety, spending the 2001 and 2002 seasons with the Seahawks.
His promotion follows those of five members of Seattle’s personnel department, which were announced last week.
