Jimmy Kimmel joked about handling Russell Wilson’s contract negotiations with the Seahawks, but the superstar quarterback wasn’t having it.
Wilson didn’t stop himself from having fun while a guest on Kimmel’s late-night show Thursday on ABC, though, even garnering a bleep early on in his interview while telling a story of meeting fellow guest Andy Samberg and referencing one the TV star’s more famous Saturday Night Live digital shorts.
Of course, Wilson was put on the hot seat about his contract – Kimmel seemed quite perplexed by the idea that Wilson may end up playing for peanuts (relatively speaking) if he decides to finish out his rookie deal this upcoming season with Seattle. But when asked by Kimmel if it’s true he wants to be the highest-paid player in football, Wilson gave a typically measured reply.
“I just want to be paid based off my play,” he said. “It will all work out in the end, we’ll figure it out.”
As for his desire to continue playing with the Seahawks, Wilson said, “I love Seattle. It’s a great place to play.”
Wilson’s appearance on the show was to promote his gig hosting Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports Awards on July 16.
