RENTON – A report from the NFL Network confirms what you would have expected based on earlier comments from Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, which is that Seattle will again be without strong safety Kam Chancellor in Week 2.

Ian Rapoport reported via Twitter that Seattle’s season-opening loss to St. Louis didn’t change anything with regard to Chancellor’s holdout and that he’s not in Seattle as of Wednesday.

Carroll said before the season began that the team’s stance wouldn’t change one way or another based on anything that happened in the first few games. He reiterated that when he joined “Brock and Salk” on Monday, a day after Seattle lost a game to St. Louis that went to overtime when Chancellor’s replacement, Dion Bailey, allowed the tying touchdown in the fourth quarter.

“No. No,” he said when asked if Seattle’s play without Chancellor could affect any conversations the team has with him. “There’s not much going on right now. It’s pretty quiet.”

By missing Seattle’s game at Green Bay on Sunday, Chancellor would forfeit another game check worth more than $267,000. That’s in addition to the fines Seattle has the option of imposing against Chancellor for holding out during training camp, which exceed $1 million.
