Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril said Sunday that Rams punter Johnny Hekker apologized for an illegal hit he delivered during the second quarter of St. Louis’ victory.
Hekker, a Bothell native, apologized again via Twitter on Monday.
Not proud of costing my team 15 yards yesterday. The hit on @cliffavril was unnecessary and I want to apologize to him for that personally.

Hekker was penalized for unnecessary roughness when he knocked Avril to the turf with a shove in the back following a second-quarter punt.
Comedy ensued, along with some harsh words after the game from Avril’s teammate, Michael Bennett.
Avril said he hopes the NFL fines Hekker, “because we would get fined for it.” But he smiled about the incident and noted that Hekker had apologized, “so it’s all good.”
