Groz: What Metcalf’s big game means for Seahawks’ other receivers vs GB

Seahawks rookie DK Metcalf has been the talk of the NFL since his 160-yard performance in Sunday’s first-round playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Expect the Green Bay Packers to take notice.

O’Neil: DK Metcalf, star of playoff win, blows past rookie expectations

The Packers are next up for Seattle in a 3:40 p.m. game next Sunday in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs, and it’s unlikely Metcalf will get as many opportunities as he did against the Eagles, who spent much of the game concentrating on limiting the Seahawks’ run game (which they did — Seattle ran for just 64 yards, 45 of which came from quarterback Russell Wilson).

“I doubt the Seahawks will see a lot of man coverage from here on out,” 710 ESPN Seattle’s Dave “The Groz” Grosby said in his latest Just A Minute video. “DK Metcalf destroyed the Eagles. If I’m Green Bay, I’m not gonna give him the chance since running the ball is gonna remain tough (for Seattle).”

What does that mean for the Seahawks’ offense? Groz expects tight end Jacob Hollister and other receivers to get more targets with the Packers focused on Metcalf and top Seattle wide receiver Tyler Lockett.

Also in this week’s video, Groz breaks down a similarity you might not expect between Green Bay and Seattle. You can watch the video embedded in this post or at this link.

Be sure to catch Groz filling in for John Clayton from 10 a.m. to noon both Tuesday and Wednesday on 710 ESPN Seattle.
