Heaps’ Chalk Talk: Seahawks WRs show reason for confidence in playoffs
Dec 31, 2019, 1:03 PM
The Seahawks had a first half to forget against the San Francisco 49ers, especially in the passing game.
It was a different story after halftime, however.
What was so encouraging about the Seahawks’ play in loss to 49ers?
Both Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf hauled in touchdown passes from Russell Wilson as Seattle nearly came back to beat the Niners in Week 17, with Metcalf finishing the night with a team-high 81 yards on six receptions and Lockett adding 51 yards with six catches on seven targets.
What did the Seahawks do to pull off each of those touchdown receptions? That’s what 710 ESPN Seattle’s Jake Heaps is here to explain in this week’s Chalk Talk video.
Here’s a more in-depth look at the plays Heaps breaks down:
• Lockett caught a 14-yard pass from a scrambling Wilson in the back of the end zone with 5:46 to go in the third quarter. As you can see in the attached video, Wilson and Lockett’s connection happened in about as small of a window as possible.
That 3️⃣➡️1️⃣6️⃣ connection! @TDLockett12 scores and we're on the board.

• With 3:36 left in the game, Wilson found the big-bodied Metcalf on another 14-yard TD pass that brought Seattle within five points of San Francisco’s lead.
A 14-yard touchdown pass to 14! 🙌
