The Seahawks are so banged up right now, it would almost be easier to go through all of the players who aren’t injured than the opposite.

Beast Mode Returns: Seahawks reunite with RB Marshawn Lynch

That’s not what we’re here for, though, so let’s look at what Pete Carroll had to say Monday morning to 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny and Gallant on The Pete Carroll Show about the Seahawks’ injuries coming out of Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

• Left tackle Duane Brown, who was inactive Sunday, was already done with minor knee surgery by the time Carroll jumped on the air. The surgery was reportedly to trim a meniscus, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

“He’s already out and it went really well,” said Carroll, who added that Brown is expected to be out two to three weeks. “… As we get rolling here in the playoffs, it gives him a chance. That was the reason we rushed him to go get it done.”

How good of a chance? Carroll compared it to minor surgery Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf had done during the preseason.

“It is realistic – DK did it. DK did, not the exact same surgery, but he did the same recovery under the same kind of hopes. We’ll see what happens.”

• Starting running back Chris Carson is indeed out for the season as the hip injury he suffered Sunday was revealed to be a fracture. Carroll compared it something safety Lano Hill recovered from and said there aren’t any long-term concerns about the injury.

Carson’s injury, along with second-string running back C.J. Prosise’s broken arm (another season-ending injury), were somewhat buried under Monday’s news that came as a result of their absences: Marshawn Lynch is back in the fold. He and Robert Turbin both returned to the team on Monday night.

• Back on the offensive line, the neck injury that knocked Mike Iupati out of Sunday’s game for a few quarters sounds like just another minor ailment to add to a list of several for the veteran.

“We’ll have to see,” Carroll said about Iupati’s availability to play in Week 17. “I think Mike, he’s a warhorse, man. He’s gonna go (in Week 17 against the 49ers), I think. He was banged-up. He did tough it out and just stayed in there and really played pretty well.”

• On defense, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (core) and cornerback Shaquill Griffin (hamstring) are likely to return for the game against the 49ers, but Carroll didn’t have much to share about safety Quandre Diggs (high-ankle sprain).

“I haven’t seen him,” Carroll said of Diggs. “I know Quandre, he’s gonna do everything he can to play. He’s got a great mentality about it.”

Carroll said both Clowney and Griffin were close to playing Sunday against the Cardinals, and he was fairly certain at least Clowney would be back on the field in Week 17.

“I think JD’s playing. I don’t think there’s any question he’s gonna play,” Carroll said. “He was close this week but he wasn’t right. Because this is kinda the last game on the schedule, he’s going for it.”
