The Seahawks may be 11-3, the NFC West leader and the current No. 1 seed in the NFC, but only two Seattle players made the initial Pro Bowl teams that were released Tuesday night.

Moore: Seahawks are top seed, but are they NFC’s best 11-3 team?

Quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner have been named to their seventh and sixth Pro Bowls, respectively, and they will be starters for the NFC squad – that is, if the Seahawks aren’t still alive in the playoffs at the time. Super Bowl players don’t play in the Pro Bowl, which is scheduled for the week in between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl.

Wilson, 31, has been a top MVP candidate all season. He has 3,708 passing yards, a 67.4 completion percentage, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions in 14 games this season, and is tied for the NFL lead with five game-winning drives.

Wagner, 29, is just a tackle short of the league lead with 139 combined tackles, and is tied for 10th in solo tackles with 75. He also has an interception, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The Seahawks also have seven Pro Bowl alternates: left tackle Duane Brown, running back Chris Carson, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, safety Quandre Diggs, cornerback Shaquill Griffin, guard Mike Iupati and wide receiver Tyler Lockett.

On the AFC side, the Baltimore Ravens tied a Pro Bowl record with 12 selections, including QB Lamar Jackson, Wilson’s top competition in the MVP race.

The Pro Bowl will be played Sunday, Jan. 26 in Orlando, Fla.
