Groz’s Just A Minute: Seahawks have missed having a healthy Tyler Lockett
Dec 9, 2019, 1:09 PM
Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson hasn’t passed for over 300 yards in a game since Nov. 3. That just so happens to be the last time his No. 1 wide receiver, Tyler Lockett, was completely healthy.
Why has the Seahawks’ passing game regressed in recent weeks?
Now, we’re fudging the numbers a little bit. Lockett was healthy for almost all of Seattle’s 27-24 overtime win over the 49ers on Nov. 11, as he didn’t suffer a shin bruise that put him in the hospital for two nights until late in regulation. But the point stands that Lockett hasn’t been the same player over the past four games that he was earlier in the season.
In the aforementioned Nov. 3 win, Lockett had 13 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He hasn’t missed a game despite being slowed first by the shin injury and second by the flu in Week 13, but over those four games he has a combined eight catches for 107 yards and no scores. In fact, he had no receptions on just three targets on Dec. 2 against the Vikings.
After Sunday’s 28-12 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Dave “The Groz” Grosby says one thing is clear: The Seahawks – and Wilson especially – miss Lockett.
Hear Groz explain that and a little bit more about the Seahawks coming out of their Week 14 loss in the latest edition of Just A Minute.
