Huard unPACs WSU QB Gordon’s elite anticipation against Stanford

The WSU Cougars may not be competing for a PAC-12 North championship this year, but that’s not the fault of the team’s star quarterback, Anthony Gordon, who is having a fantastic year leading the WSU offense.

Gordon, a redshirt senior, is following in the footsteps of recent WSU quarterbacks like Gardner Minshew and Luke Falk in rewriting the school’s record books under head coach Mike Leach’s air raid offense. Not only that, but Gordon is among the elite in college football this season.

Gordon is entering this Saturday’s contest against the Oregon State Beavers at the top of two major passing categories in all of college football. Gordon leads the nation in passing yards with 4,314 as well as passing touchdowns with 39.

In the latest edition of Brock Huard’s unPAC, his weekly look at the PAC-12 with video breakdowns of specific plays and players, Huard shows how Gordon led his team and offense to a dominant 49-22 victory over the Stanford Cardinal.

Gordon made life very difficult for Stanford’s defense, throwing for 520 yards and five touchdowns. Throughout the contest, he showed off his quick release and elite anticipation on many of his throws.

To start, Huard shows a third down conversion early in the game where Gordon throws a great ball on a hitch route. Next, Huard shows a Gordon completion on an out route on third down that didn’t look like an open window. Finally, Huard wraps it up with one of Gordon’s five touchdown throws, this one in a very tight window in the endzone.
