Heaps: 4 plays that show why Russell Wilson is MVP favorite

Nov 21, 2019, 12:37 AM | Updated: 12:43 am

Everybody knows Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is in a fight with Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson in the NFL MVP race. As 710 ESPN Seattle’s Jim Moore pointed out this week, there’s a reason – albeit a superstitious one – for Seahawks fans to maybe not root for Wilson to win the award.

Fellow 710 ESPN Seattle host Jake Heaps doesn’t adhere to the same superstition as Moore, however.

In this week’s Seahawks video breakdown, Heaps takes a look at four big plays from his former Seahawks teammate’s 2019 season that show why Wilson should be the MVP favorite, and he explains along the way why he thinks Seattle fans should be rooting for Wilson to get some hardware as recognition at the end of the season.

“Russell is in the driver’s seat here,” Heaps says in the video. “Seahawks fans should want Russell Wilson to win the MVP and the reason why is if he’s playing MVP-level football, that means the Seahawks are winning… and they are putting themselves in the best position for the playoffs and the Super Bowl.”
