Kyle Seager came out of his early-season slump with a bang last week, and he was appropriately honored for his efforts Monday.

Seager was named co-American League Player of the Week along with White Sox rookie Jose Abreu after hitting five home runs over a four-game stretch last week.

Seager hit .409 with five homers, 11 RBIs, eight runs scored and a 1.549 OPS over the week. He entered last Monday with a .158 batting average, but he raised it to .228 thanks in part to a pair of two-homer performances.

His first multi-homer game came Wednesday, when he smacked a two-run shot in the seventh and a walkoff three-run bomb in a 5-3 win over the Astros. The second was Sunday, when he hit a solo homer in the seventh and a go-ahead three-run round tripper in the next inning of a 6-5 victory over Texas.

It is the first weekly honor of Seager’s MLB career.

Abreu also hit five home runs last week.
