RENTON – The Seahawks have a question mark at strong safety and a mystery at running back.

Kam Chancellor is questionable after sitting out this week’s practice because of the bruised tailbone he suffered in the first quarter of last week’s game. Chancellor’s availability will be determined on game day.

“We’ll wait all the way up to game time to see if he can bounce back from this,” coach Pete Carroll said.

The mystery at running back is everything from whether Bryce Brown, Christine Michael or Derrick Coleman will start to who will get the most carries with Thomas Rawls and Marshawn Lynch both out.

Carroll was playing it coy about his intentions for playing time.

“They had a really good week,” Carroll said. “They busted their tails. Played fast, practiced fast and we’ll show you what happens at game time.”

The Seahawks have ruled out three players: Lynch, tight end Anthony McCoy (ankle) and defensive lineman Jordan Hill (toe). Hill will miss his fourth straight game because of a toe injury though Demarcus Dobbs is back after missing the past two games.

Chancellor and DeShawn Shead are questionable though Carroll indicated Shead had recovered from his ankle injury. If Chancellor is not available, Kelcie McCray will start in his place.

Chancellor sat out the first two games of the season, holding out in a desire for a new contract.

In six seasons in Seattle, he has missed only three games because of injury. He sat out games against Oakland and the New York Giants last year because of a groin injury. He missed a game in 2011 – his first year as a starter – because of a thigh bruise.
