The biggest question of the Seahawks’ offseason is no closer to being answered, according to general manager John Schneider, who said Thursday that the team has been given no indication as to whether or not running back Marshawn Lynch plans to retire or continue his career.
Lynch’s future was among the subjects Schneider spoke about when he met with reporters at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. He was asked if there’s any more clarity to the situation than there was last week, when he told 710 ESPN Seattle that Lynch is undecided on playing in 2015.

“Not yet,” Schneider said. “I think everybody needs time away – especially at that position, the way he runs the ball – a little time to hit the reset button. I’ve talked to his people a bunch, his representatives, he knows we want him to play.”
Schneider was asked if it would shock him if Lynch decided to retire before his age-29 season.
“Not really,” Schneider said. “He’s a guy that kinda just beats to his own drum. He does what he wants. He would never let you know one way or another. There’s been a lot of great running backs that have just walked away, so I have no idea.”
The Seahawks could be in a bit of a holding pattern while awaiting Lynch’s decision, which one way or another will impact their plans in the draft and/or free agency. Asked about the Seahawks’ preferred timetable for a decision from Lynch, Schneider said: “We’d like to know soon. Like I said, I’ve talked to his people, so they know.”
