The Seahawks will travel to Glendale this weekend to play the first of two consecutive games against NFC West opponents. They’ll face the 3-0 Los Angeles Rams for a Thursday night kickoff next week, but before then, they’ve got to get past the high-flying Arizona Cardinals.

First-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s Air Raid offense leans into the pass — something Washington State fans are plenty familiar with — but that doesn’t mean he’ll be asking rookie quarterback Kyler Murray to attack downfield all day. Murray, 2019’s first-overall pick, is averaging more pass attempts per game (46) than any other quarterback this season, but is also averaging six yards per attempt.

In a Friday morning’s Pete Carroll Show on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, Seattle’s head coach told host Dori Monson that he’s been impressed with the rookie so far. (Listen to the full interview above)

“He is really good,” Carroll said. “I’ve loved him throughout the draft process and all that when I got to know him as a player. He is really something. It has nothing to do with how tall he is or any of that. He’s got phenomenal skill. He’s really quick and explosive, he’s really natural as an athlete and thrower. His timing, his awareness, his processing is just really fast. He should be a fantastic player. We’ve got to keep him quiet and not let him get going and try to make sure we keep him in the pocket and keep track of him. But he really is a dynamic player and the offense really does give him a chance to use the whole field.”

Injuries

Four Seahawks are questionable heading into Sunday: Defensive ends Quinton Jefferson (hip) and Ziggy Ansah (back), running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring), and cornerback Neiko Thorpe (hamstring).

In his Friday afternoon press conference, Carroll said all of today’s questionable players have a good chance to play, but also said Penny will be a gametime decision.

“He worked through practice today, so he’s going in questionable,” Carroll said.  We’ve got to get to game time to see what happens. He had a good week in preparation for it. He didn’t get to work everyday this week, but he did finish out the week going, so that was a good sign. He feels pretty good. He’s dying to play.”

Guard Ethan Pocic (mid back) is officially listed as doubtful.
