The Seattle Mariners’ season may be winding to a close, but the team is already planning some massive upgrades for T-Mobile Park in 2020.

Improvements will total $29.8 million, spread across infrastructure, improvements to the fan experience, expanded spaces, and more.

“The work we will be doing for next season and the years to come will ensure that it continues to be a first class experience for fans and is our home for generations to come,” Mariners President and CEO Kevin Mather said in a news release.

That includes just over $20 million devoted to swapping out the stadium’s 20-year-old sound system, replacing point-of-sale systems for concessions, ADA upgrades, and putting in new roof wheels, paint, plumbing, and “other basic infrastructure work.”

The remaining $9.24 million will be entirely devoted to “fan upgrades.” That includes:

  • An expansion of the left-field gate adding 15 more entry points
  • A new bar space at Lookout Landing above the left field foul pole on the View Level.
  • An “elevated Rooftop Boardwalk” above home place gate, with “enhanced viewing areas,” as well as concessions and areas for children.
  • New seating along the First Base Terrace Club for small groups

2019 marked the first season under the T-Mobile Park moniker, after the Mariners renewed their lease with the stadium for another 25 years. The park’s upcoming improvements will be the initial step in a 10-year, $280 million process to fully upgrade the stadium’s amenities and infrastructure.
