The Mariners have acquired minor-league relief pitcher Ryne Harper from the Atlanta Braves to complete an earlier trade, the team announced Friday.
Harper, 26, has a career 2.16 ERA and 20 saves in five minor-league seasons since being drafted in the 37th round of the 2011 MLB Draft by Atlanta.
Harper, who has been assigned to the Triple-A Tacoma roster, is the player to be named later from Atlanta to complete a Dec. 4 trade of Jose Ramiez from the Mariners.
Seattle has reportedly added another piece to their system, signing utility player Ed Lucas to a minor-league deal, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
Lucas, 33, played 163 games for the Marlins in 2013 and 2014, hitting .255 with five home runs, 37 RBIs and a .624 OPS. Primarily an infielder, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound Lucas could compete for at-bats as a first baseman against left-handed pitchers.
