RENTON – The Seahawks’ Week-14 matchup with Baltimore lost its prime-time appeal largely because of how injuries have derailed the Ravens’ season. Oddly enough, another injury creates an interesting subplot to Sunday’s game.

Matt Schaub has been the Ravens’ starting quarterback since Joe Flacco went down with a knee injury, but he could be too banged up to play Sunday. Jimmy Clausen would start in Schaub’s absence, and he would join some rare company if he does.

According to STATS via Tim Booth of The Associated Press, only six quarterbacks in NFL history have started for two different teams against the same opponent in one season. Clausen was Chicago’s starter during a 26-0 loss to the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in Week 3.

The last quarterback to do so was Kyle Orton in 2011, when he split the season between Kansas City and Denver and made two starts against both Oakland and Green Bay. Former University of Washington quarterback Chris Chandler did it in 1991 while playing with Tampa Bay and then Arizona.

It looks like Clausen has a shot to join that list. Schaub took a pounding in Baltimore’s last game. This Baltimore Sun story notes he was evaluated for a concussion then cleared, took a hit to his knee and also hurt his shoulder. Schaub didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday, and the reason for his absence has been listed as a chest injury.

Clausen didn’t fare well in Seattle’s shutout of Chicago, completing 9 of 17 attempts for 63 yards. That was his only start of the season.
