RENTON – The Seahawks filled their two open roster spots Wednesday by signing tight end Anthony McCoy and safety Akeem Davis, the team announced.
McCoy was drafted by Seattle in 2010 then spent his first five seasons as a backup with the Seahawks, missing 2013 and 2014 with separate Achilles tendon tears. He spent time with Washington earlier this season and made three starts before he was released on Nov. 23.
A reunion with McCoy seemed like a possibility last week after the Seahawks placed tight end Jimmy Graham on season-ending injured reserve, but Seattle signed Chase Coffman instead. Coffman was released on Tuesday.
Davis gives the Seahawks another defensive back after the team released cornerback Cary Williams on Monday. He spent time in Seattle’s rookie minicamp in 2013 and has since spent time with Washington, New Orleans and Tampa Bay.
