The Mariners have activated Logan Morrison from the disabled list and placed Justin Smoak on the 15-day DL.
The moves were announced before Wednesday’s game against the Yankees. Morrison is in the lineup, hitting fifth and playing first base.
Morrison was 3 for 20 in eight games this season before he was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained right hamstring. He hit .308 with five extra-base hits and eight RBIs during an 18-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma.
Smoak hasn’t played since June 10 because of a strained left quad. His placement on the DL is retroactive to June 10.
