The Seahawks kick off training camp on July 25, and until then, Brock Huard and Mike Salk will count down the top 25 most intriguing Seahawks every weekday at 8:30 a.m. Their list continues with No. 22: WR David Moore.

Why did Seahawks’ Chris Carson fall out of top RB ranking?

Quick look

• The 6-feet-2, 216-pound Texas native was a seventh-round pick by the Seahawks in 2017.
• Spent his rookie year on the practice squad, but made the 53-man roster in 2018.
• Had 26 catches for 445 yards and five touchdowns last year, including this 35-yard touchdown on a fourth-down play against the Carolina Panthers.

What Brock Huard says…

“Originally left off this list, and largely so because he disappeared at the second half of last season. But then that would mean you forget about the first half of last season, where he was a difference-maker, where he caught a ton of touchdowns, where he was actually, all things considered, the third-best go route runner in all the NFL. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Antonio Brown were one and two, and number three on that list was David Moore, with a passer rating of 109 on that route. But expectations for him grew after Brandon Marshall got cut, and it was, ‘OK, David, this is going to be your spot and your role, go flourish,’ and he did not do that.”

What the team says…

“David Moore has made a big jump,” head coach Pete Carroll said. “He looks like a complete guy. In the past we’ve kept David in one spot just to make sure he can really focus on a spot. It’s not like that anymore. He can play any of the spots, he can move around, we’re motioning him and shifting him and all kinds of things, and he’s got it.”

Why is he on this list?

“We’ve seen receivers make that jump,” Mike Salk said. “You don’t have to just look at David Moore; you look at Golden Tate, who is an incredibly athlete as well and it took him three years. First year was OK, second year a little better, and then finally in year three it clicked…

“Here’s the thing when it comes to David Moore and why he finds himself on this list: What player is he? Is he the guy who had 411 yards in the first 11 games of the year, or the guy who had 34 yards in the last five? David Moore did a really good job for 11 weeks; 34 yards in the last five indicates either you’re injured or you’ve completely hit a wall. So what happened to this guy in the final five games?”

Can Moore make the jump? Huard, Salk and Gee Scott talk about Moore’s development and potential in 2019 below:
