Anyone else amused that Washington offered a scholarship to Gee Scott Jr. earlier this week? Scott, a senior-to-be receiver at Eastside Catholic, verbally committed to Ohio State on Christmas Day.

Coaches offer scholarships all the time to recruits who have verbally committed to other schools. Why is this amusing? It’s amusing because U-Dub coach Chris Petersen likes to think he’s different when it comes to the recruiting trail.
Petersen talks of other programs being “vultures,” saying: “We operate such a different way. So when it happens…why would you be calling those kids who have been committed to us forever, but they do.”
If he truly operated a different way from other coaches, why did he offer a scholarship to Scott Jr.? Isn’t that hypocritical?
Scott is rated as the 13th-best receiving prospect in the country and is the son of Gee Scott, host of “KIRO Nights” on KIRO-FM.
