Mariners set 2016 minor league coaching staffs

Dec 4, 2015, 4:10 PM | Updated: 4:12 pm

General manager Jerry Dipoto and director of player development Andy McKay have announced the minor league coaches and staff for the 2016 season. In addition to the coaches assigned to minor league affiliates, eighteen roving instructors have been assigned.

Mike Micucci joins the organization as the field coordinator. Micucci, a former catcher, had a four-year minor league playing career that ended in 1999. He has coached and managed in the Angels organization for the past 14 years and been their fielding coordinator since 2012.

Rick Waits returns as pitching coordinator, Dan Wilson takes a new position as defensive coordinator and Jack Howell who previously was the field coordinator will not be the offensive coordinator. Alvin Davis returns as special assistant coordinator. Two new minor league positions have been added as former big leaguer Pete Harnisch joins the organization as special/assistant player development and John Hester becomes special assistant/player development and scouting.
