Dee Gordon is back from the injured list and in the Mariners’ lineup for their series opener Tuesday night in Minnesota.

The Mariners reinstated Gordon, who had been out of action since May 21 with a right wrist contusion, from the 10-day IL prior to their 5:10 p.m. game against the Twins, which will air live on 710 ESPN Seattle. To make room on the active roster, Seattle optioned right-handed relief pitcher Matt Festa to Triple-A Tacoma.
Gordon initially suffered his injury after being hit by a pitch by Yankees southpaw J.A. Happ on May 9. He sat out the following series in Boston before returning on May 13 for a series at home against the Athletics. He went just 3 for 22 at the plate from May 13-20, however, and eventually was placed on the IL to fully recover from the injury.
The 31-year-old Gordon is hitting .281 with three home runs and 12 stolen bases (on 14 attempts) in 45 games this season for Seattle. He hit 3 for 14 during a three-game rehab stint in Triple-A prior to being reinstated by the Mariners.
Festa, 26, is 0-1 with a 5.73 ERA in nine appearances (11 innings) over three stints with the Mariners this year. He has struck out nine and walked seven.
