RENTON – It’s looking less likely that Seahawks wide receiver Paul Richardson will return this week from his hamstring injury now that he missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday.
Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Richardson had a good chance to make it back this week after missing the last two games, and he even said Richardson might practice without limitation as early as Wednesday. But he hasn’t practiced at all the last two days, making his availability for Sunday’s game against Minnesota a question mark.
The Seahawks have five other wide receivers on their active roster, so Richardson’s absence wouldn’t necessarily require the addition of another. If Seattle were to add a receiver, Kasen Williams would be a candidate for a promotion from the practice squad. But that will depend on Richardson’s status, which Carroll should shed some light on following Friday’s practice.
Defensive linemen Demarcus Dobbs (concussion), Jordan Hill (toe) and Michael Bennett (not injury-related) were the other three Seahawks who sat out Thursday’s practice. The NIR note on Bennett’s absence indicates he was merely getting a regularly-scheduled day off.
Fullback Will Tukuafu, who like Dobbs sustained a concussion on Sunday, was a limited participant in practice after sitting out on Wednesday. Cornerback Marcus Burley (ankle) was also limited.
Cornerback Jeremy Lane (knee) was a full participant in practice for the second straight day, so it appears the lingering soreness he was feeling from his first game since the Super Bowl is not an issue. Center Patrick Lewis (knee) and free safety Earl Thomas (hip) were also full participants.
