WSU QB Gardner Minshew selected in 5th round of NFL Draft by Jacksonville

Gardner Minshew took the Pac-12 by storm in 2018, breaking records as a graduate transfer quarterback running Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense for the WSU Cougars.

Now he’ll try to earn his way on to the active roster playing behind new Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles in Jacksonville, as the Jaguars took Minshew in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 178th overall pick on Saturday.
Minshew, a gunslinger of a QB from Mississippi, won the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year award after throwing for 4,779 yards and 38 TDs with a 70.7 percent completion percentage and nine interceptions. He led the nation with 367.6 passing yards per game, led the Cougars to a program-record 11 wins and took the 2018 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation’s top junior or senior quarterback.
Oh, and if there was any question whether Minshew and his famous mustache would fit in down in Jacksonville, the Jaguars’ Twitter account cleared that up.
