The Seattle Seahawks’ beleaguered offensive line is getting some welcome news.

Veteran Robert Gallery will start at left guard in Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll shared that information during Seattle’s Morning News on 97.3 KIRO FM.

Gallery was not able to play in the season opener due to a sprained ankle.

Carroll said with Gallery back, rookie James Carpenter will move back to right tackle.

The injury news is not as encouraging for receiver Sidney Rice. Carroll says unless something major happens in the next two days, Rice will not play against Pittsburgh. Rice also missed Seattle’s season opener at San Francisco because of a sore shoulder.

97.3 KIRO FM host Linda Thomas asked Coach Carroll when Seattle fans might get to see quarterback Charlie Whitehurst get a chance.

Carroll replied, saying, “This is game two, and we’re just getting started. Charlie has done a marvelous job, and had a really good pre-season for us. So far there’s been no reason to do anything different at the quarterback spot.”

The Seahawks are 14 point underdogs at Pittsburgh Sunday.

Coverage of the game starts at 7 a.m., with a 10 a.m. kickoff on both 710 ESPN Seattle and 97.3 KIRO FM.
