Fresh off the NFL combine, UW Huskies defensive backs Taylor Rapp and Byron Murphy face a nearly 10-week wait until the draft, when the pair will find out where they’ll be playing in 2019.

Huard: Making the case for Seahawks to draft UW Huskies’ Rapp

Both players were standout athletes at UW, but who’s the better pro? 710 ESPN Seattle’s Jake Heaps answered that question during the Blue 42 segment of Brock and Salk.

“This is so hard, because I really believe in both of these players,” Heaps said. “Byron Murphy has unbelievable athleticism and is a playmaker out on the corner. Taylor Rapp is a guy that flies around and can play multiple spots. And so for that reason I’m going to say Taylor Rapp. He’s versatile; he can play free safety, he can play strong safety, and he can even play nickel at different points. That versatility is going to allow him to be a factor in a defense where he can be a difference-maker. That’s another reason why I think Taylor Rapp makes a lot of sense for the Seahawks, because they need that kind of versatility.

“Byron Murphy? He’s going to be a playmaker somewhere and there’s good opportunity for him. But if you look at some of the corners who have come out from Washington, they’ve been good players so far but haven’t necessarily blossomed into elite corners. I think Taylor Rapp can be one of those guys that has a big impact in this league.”
