Dave Wyman’s Football 101: Using Seahawks DE Frank Clark’s stop to show how to defend fly sweep

Oct 10, 2018, 11:09 AM

Late in the third quarter of Sunday’s Seahawks-Rams game, Los Angeles gave wide receiver Robert Woods the ball on a fly sweep to great success. At the end of the play, Woods had gained 56 yards, putting the Rams in the red zone for an eventual touchdown that narrowed a Seahawks lead to 31-30.

With how well that play turned out, it only made sense that the Rams would go back to the well on their next series.

This time, defensive end Frank Clark and the Seahawks’ defense was ready.

In this week’s Football 101 video, 710 ESPN Seattle host and Seahawks radio color analyst Dave Wyman shows the proper way to defend against the fly sweep and how Clark was able to use his athleticism to take down Woods for a 3-yard loss.
