Wyman: How Shaquill Griffin, Barkevious Mingo stepped up for Seahawks’ defense
The Seahawks’ defense had low expectations coming into Monday’s 24-17 loss in Chicago, the result of Pro Bowl linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright being among several defensive players out of action due to injury.
Nobody told that to the defense – especially cornerback Shaquill Griffin and linebacker Barkevious Mingo.
Griffin was one of the stars of the game for Seattle with a pair of interceptions, and he and Mingo both played big parts in the defense limiting the Bears’ offense to just 17 points. And on one play in particular, they both stepped up to stop the Bears on a third-and-1.
In the attached video, former NFL linebacker and current Seahawks radio color commentator Dave Wyman breaks down how Griffin, Mingo and the defense were “stingy in space” late in the first quarter to keep Chicago from pulling away.
