Wyman’s 53-man roster projection: Offense, special teams | Defense
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider have some tough decisions to make by by today’s 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT deadline. We’ll have that information on 710sports.com as soon as it’s available, but until then we’ll be tracking all reports, signings and trades in this live blog.
(As a note, last year the team’s final roster wasn’t available until a few hours after the deadline. But whether or not it’s announced at deadline, all of the Seahawks’ transactions will be announced today.)

1:59 PM: Seahawks release SS Maurice Alexander
The Seahawks have released strong safety Maurice Alexander, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
Alexander originally signed with Seattle as a free agent in March, but was forced to miss time in camp with a hip flexor injury.
The Seahawks are releasing safety Maurice Alexander, according to a source. He had a strong case to make the team given his past starting experience and versatility (having played some weak-side linebacker). It's possible the Seahawks bring him back at some point.

1:10 PM: Seahawks waive rookie QB Alex McGough
Not a big surprise, as Seattle made a move earlier this week to acquire quarterback Brett Hundley from the Packers. But McGough showed flashes of promise and was a seventh-round pick, so he could be a prime candidate for Seattle’s practice squad if he clears waivers. Those signings will likely be announced on the Sept. 2 deadline.
The #Seahawks are waiving rookie QB Alex McGough, source said. Seventh-round pick flashed some athletic ability in the preseason, but they traded for Brett Hundley as No. 2. May be back on practice squad.

1 PM: Seahawks acquire TE Darrell Daniels, trade WR Marcus Johnson to Colts
The Seahawks have traded wide receiver Marcus Johnson to the Colts in exchange for former Washington tight end Darrell Daniels, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Johnson originally landed with Seattle as part of a trade earlier this year that sent defensive end Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles. Johnson had a strong training camp with Seattle but was competing for time in a crowded receiver room.
The Colts have since confirmed the trade.
Deadline deal: The #Colts are trading TE Darrell Daniels to the #Seahawks for WR Marcus Johnson, I'm told.

And here's what the Seahawks are getting for Johnson: tight end Darrell Daniels, who played at the University of Washington. TE seemed like a position where the Seahawks could add to from another team, and they did. https://t.co/DGtrLKMmdn

Update Friday, Aug. 31, 6:28 PM: LB D.J. Alexander appears to have been released
While the team didn’t report any transactions for Friday, linebacker D.J. Alexander hinted at his departure with a tweet Friday evening.
The Seahawks originally acquired Alexander in a 2017 trade that sent former Seahawks linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis to the Kansas City Chiefs. The special teams stalwart appeared in 12 games last season. However, a shoulder injury kept him sidelined this summer and he ultimately missed all four preseason contests.
It’s been fun Seattle on to the next.
