Jon Ryan indicated he’s out as Seahawks punter Monday morning with a tweet announcing the end of his tenure in Seattle.

The team confirmed the news Monday afternoon. Along with Ryan, the team also released kicker Jason Myers, meaning Michael Dickson and Sebastian Janikowski are the current starting duo on special teams. In a corresponding move, Seattle signed cornerback Elijah Battle and wide receiver Marvin Bracy, both of whom have spent time with the Seahawks in training camp.

“It’s been an absolute honor and privilege to play in this great city of Seattle for the past 10 years,” Ryan wrote. “I never wanted this day to come, but knew it would someday. Even though I’m leaving, I will always be a Seahawk.”

Signs appeared to point toward an end to Ryan’s career earlier this year when Seattle selected punter Michael Dickson in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

With Dickson set as part of Seattle’s future plans, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Ryan requested his release and intends to move on to find a new landing spot.

Ryan, 36, is the longest-tenured Seahawk, having played under three head coaches in Mike Holmgren, Jim Mora Jr., and Pete Carroll. He’s missed just one regular season game in 12 years.

Ryan began his career in 2004, when the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers selected him 24th-overall in the Canadian College Draft. He eventually signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2006, where he played for two seasons before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2008.

In a decade with Seattle, Ryan appeared in 159 games and averaged 44.8 yards per punt.
