The Seahawks’ seventh day of training camp included some extra pass-catching from running backs, a pair of new defensive linemen, and injury updates from head coach Pete Carroll.

Here are a few takeaways:

Roster moves and injury updates

The Seahawks announced a few new roster moves Friday afternoon. The team signed defensive end Ricky Ali’ifua and defensive tackle Lord Adusei-Hyeamang and waived center Marcus Henry and defensive tackle Eddy Wilson. Ali’ifua, 26, has spent time with both the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns. Undrafted free agent Adusei-Hyeamang was a two-time All-Ivy League selection at Columbia.

Rookie DE/DT Rasheem Green returned to practice today and WR David Moore also suited up. Defensive tackle Tom Johnson (groin), cornerback Mike Tyson (ribs), and safety Maurice Alexander (hip flexor) sat out. Tyson injured his ribs yesterday near the close of practice, but Carroll said he should be fine.

A few injured players are close to making a return. Carroll said tight end Clayton Wilson (currently on the PUP list) is on schedule to return early next week. Fellow tight end Ed Dickson (groin) will take a bit longer, but Carroll said his injury is not serious. Fullback Jalston Fowler (hamstring) is also closing in on a return.

Carroll also provided an update on wide receiver Doug Baldwin, who is expected to be sidelined a few weeks with a knee injury.

“He’s doing great,” Carroll said. “He went and did some work down south just to set up the next couple weeks. He should be in great shape, we’re totally counting on him coming back. It’s just the process of getting him right and making (him) really strong and ready to go again.”

Notable plays

The running back group got plenty of pass-catching work in during team drills, with touchdowns for most of the unit. With Maurice Alexander injured, free safety Tedric Thompson got more work in with the starting defense (with Bradley McDougald at strong safety). Wide receiver Tyler Lockett had an impressive touchdown during a goal-line drill, reaching out to snag a Russell Wilson pass near the pylon.

Shaquem Griffin gets reps with the starters

Rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin was among the young players who are getting their shot at some reps with the starting defense Friday.

“Me being out there with the ones, it allowed me to kind of open up more,” Griffin said. “It allowed me to talk more, and see how it’s actually done, as opposed to, you know, with the young guys there’s still learning the process. Me being out there, I kind of can get a feel for how everything is going… I just want to be able to, when I’m with the twos and everybody else, kind of replicate that.”

Griffin said veteran linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright have been instrumental in his development through camp.

“They don’t always just talk about ball, they always talk about life and how you need to carry yourself,” Griffin said. “Learning different things from them allows me to kind of get myself ready for the next point in my life, wherever it comes to … for me, I want to be where Bobby Wag or KJ (are at) one time in my life, so I want to be able to learn from them.”
