Amidst a pretty entertaining interview with Mariners manager Scott Servais on Brock and Salk Wednesday morning was a pretty entertaining story about how Dee Gordon has fit in with his new team.
Servais doesn’t have to play cheerleader for Mariners anymore
Here’s what Servais shared about Gordon, who for the benefit of added context went to high school in Avon Park, Fla., which is about 80 miles outside of Tampa.
We were down in Tampa and I made a comment – it’s hard when you’re in that dome in Tampa you don’t know if it’s night or day or whatever, and we had different start times down there.
(Gordon) is like, ‘Skip, man, I can’t wait to get back home.’
And I said, ‘Seattle? Back home?’
‘Yeah, you know what I mean.’
Can’t wait to get back home.
Which says something to me (about) how he’s connected with the organization and with our fan base already. It’s been great to see.
You can hear the full interview with Servais in this podcast of Wednesday’s Brock and Salk show.
