Eric Wedge and the kids

Sorry about the confusion on the audio. Click on the headline to hear Wedge addressing the kids.
No, not the younger players, actual kids! I am taking my first game off today and since Felix Hernandez is pitching that means I will be watching the game to see if something “special” happens. If it does or looks like it could you might see me rushing into the park around the sixth inning. I hate it when off day is Felix Day!
So since I am off I thought I would leave you with something that I thought was fun. Yesterday the Mariners participated in their 14th annual D.R.E.A.M Team Assembly Day with groups of players and coaches traveling to six area elementary schools to deliver the D.R.E.A.M. (Drug-free, Respect for yourself and others, Education through reading, Attitude, and Motivation to achieve your dreams) message.
Eric Wedge was in the group that spoke at View Ridge Elementary and we had a reporter there who got the audio. I was curious to hear how he would sound talking to a gym full of 6-to 10-year-olds. Eric does have two little ones of his own and he is great with them but I still couldn’t help wonder if he would rally the troops of youngsters in a similar way to how he rallies his clubhouse. Eric’s topic was motivation and I got the feeling that all of the kids ran straight home and did their homework!
Give a listen for a smile, and if you have a youngster who needs a little extra motivation, who knows, maybe this will help!
Have a good Friday. I will be back tomorrow.
