The Seattle Thunderbirds finished the Everett pre-season tournament this past weekend with a 0-1-1 record. They kicked off the pre-season with a 4-3 overtime loss to Portland and you can read our recap here. On Sunday they took on the Spokane Chiefs and were beaten 6-3 – unfortunately I was not able to attend that game but you can read the team’s recap of the game here.
They will next be in action this weekend with a couple of games in Kennewick.
Seattle will get their first look at the Tri-City Americans tomorrow night at 7 pm before taking another shot at Portland on Saturday at 3 pm. The games will not be on local radio however Portland has been doing web broadcasts of their pre-season games and you should be able to tune into Saturday’s game here.
In other T-Birds news, import draft pick Alex Delnov has arrived in Kent and should be suited up to play this weekend. Delnov’s arrival had been delayed due to visa issues with the Russian and American consulates. Delnov is a talented player who was drafted by the Florida Panthers in last year’s NHL Entry draft and will be a key player for Seattle this year.
After this weekend’s game Seattle will next play home and home pre-season games against the Everett Silvertips Friday, September 14th at ShoWare Center and the 15th in Everett.
UPDATE: The Thunderbirds have released their updated roster for the Tri-City tournament and Carter Folk, Damon Hanson, and Michael Bell have been reassigned. First round draft pick Keegan Kolesar will also not be making the trip to Kennewick as he will return to his midget team.
